Firstly, what is diastasis recti? Diastasis recti is a partial or complete separation your rectus abdominis, also know as your “six-pack” muscles, which meet at the midline of your stomach. 33 to 66% of pregnant women will have diastasis recti at the end of their pregnancy. Don't let this scare you! Our amazing bodies have the incredible ability to adapt during pregnancy and this is one of those many ways. This is because the uterus stretches the muscles in the abdomen to accommodate your growing baby, or babies! Patients often ask, "Can diastasis recti lead to any other lead to any other health issues?" Diastasis recti can often lead to lower back, pelvic and hip pain, pain during sex, urinary incontinence or a constipation issue. Is it ever too late to correct diastasis recti? No! You can close diastasis recti years after you have delivered your last baby with proper care. How long it takes to heal depends on the severity of your diastasis, or in other words, the distance between your separated abdominal muscles and how much damage there is to the stretched connective tissue. What can I do about diastasis recti? Once your connective tissue gets stretched out, it can be difficult to rebuild your core strength. Doing traditional exercises can even make your condition worse! Crunches tend to make those muscles tighter, pushing them further apart and the additional stretching can cause the connective tissue to get even thinner and weaker. Isometric workouts with the traverse abdominis, as well as, strength training and cardiovascular exercise have proven to eliminate diastasis recti. However, scheduling and making time to commit to a traditional exercise program is often difficult, especially for a new, super-busy mom! Completing a series of EMSCULPT treatments is one of the latest and best ways to rid yourself of diastasis recti non-invasively, without down time or surgery! As a new, busy Mom, time is of the essence, there is never enough of it! Maintaining proper social distancing, keeping you and your family safe and healthy are also of great concern these days...With EMSCULPT , your treatments take place in a private, sterile room. No need to worry about who is working out next to you and if they are healthy! Each, 30 minute EMSCULPT session is equivalent to doing 20,000 crunches on your own, which as we know, is not possible to do. How does it do it? The EMSCULPT technology uses high-intensity, focused electromagnetic energy (or HIFEM) that triggers supramaximal contractions. These type of contractions cannot be achieved with ordinary, voluntary muscle action. EMSCULPT is FDA-cleared for "the improvement of abdominal tone, development of a firmer abdomen and strengthening of the abdominal muscles". A single, 30-minute treatment induces 20,000 contractions in the abdomen. Your body responds to the strain of these supramaximal contractions, by producing new muscle tissue (hyperplasia) and enhancing your existing muscle fibers (hypertrophy.) Will I be sore after my EMSCULPT session? Great question! Some clients may feel mildly sore afterwards but we have many who do not thanks to the third phase of EMSCULPT, which is designed specifically to help flush lactic acid out of the body (Lactic acid is what causes you to feel sore after exercising). A half hour from the time you begin your EMSCULPT session, your workout is completed, and you are out the door and on the way to the rest of your busy day! 📣 TREATMENT THAT FINALLY TARGETS VISCERAL FAT! 📣 Have you invested time and money on non-surgical body treatments, that only target subcutaneous fat (jiggly fat under the skin) and not visceral fat (surrounds the organs and bad fat that can cause medical issues)? What if we told you that you can now target both subcutaneous fat and visceral fat in the same treatment?! But wait...there’s more! You can also build muscle at the same time! Beware of imitators and EMSCULPT is the only muscle building device in the market that can target these concerns. AUGUST 6, 2020 BTL Industries, Inc. ("BTL"), the leading manufacturer of the EMSCULPT body-contouring device and other products for non-invasive body-shaping procedures, filed a complaint today with the United States International Trade Commission ("ITC"), asking the Commission to prevent Allergan Limited, Allergan, Inc., Allergan USA Inc., Zeltiq Aesthetics, Inc., Zeltiq Ireland Unlimited Company ("Allergan"), and Zimmer MedizinSysteme GmbH, Germany ("Zimmer") from importing products that infringe BTL's patents into the United States. BTL concurrently filed a lawsuit with the U.S. Federal District Court in the District of Delaware against Allergan and Zimmer on the same matter. The U.S. International Trade Commission is an independent, quasi-judicial federal agency with broad investigative responsibilities on matters that affect trade and commerce, including intellectual property infringement. "We have asked the ITC to determine whether Cooltone and Coolsculpting products infringe BTL's patents and, if they are found to be infringing, to issue an exclusion order barring importation of Cooltone and Coolsculpting products into the U.S., as well as issuing a cease-and-desist order prohibiting Allergan and Zimmer from selling their infringing products and their components in the American market space," said Ron Borsheim, VP of Business Development. BTL's ITC complaint and Delaware lawsuit follows a lawsuit that BTL filed with the U.S. District Court in Delaware in December 2019 on similar matters. BTL CONTINUES TO REVOLUTIONIZE NON- INVASIVE AESTHETICS BY EXTENDING THE SCULPTING POWER OF EMSCULPT® TO THE ARMS AND LEGS BTL, the manufacturer behind the game-changing EMSCULPT technology, is continuing to raise the bar in aesthetics and non-invasive body shaping. Today, the brand announced its latest FDA clearance for EMSCULPT, which is now FDA cleared to strengthen, firm and tone the arms and calves with the newly unveiled Small Contour Applicators. Building upon the existing clearances for the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs, the new Small Contour Applicator brings the unrivaled EMSCULPT results to even more key muscle groups, making it the ONLY non-invasive treatment that is FDA cleared to tone and strengthen the arms and calves as well. "Since launching EMSCULPT last year, we've seen growing demand from physicians and patients to bring the technology to other tough to target areas of the body," shared John Ferris, VP of US Marketing, of BTL. "Given our unique HIFEM procedures, we knew 'one applicator would not fit all' so we're excited to unveil the Small Contour Applicator in order to deliver targeted treatment for smaller muscle groups including the arms and calves." The Small Contour Applicator is specially designed to target these smaller muscle groups via a unique, ergonomic design and adjusted energy field. "The amount of research that went into the development of the new applicator is apparent by the specificity used to address the unique needs of these muscle groups," shared Dr. Minni Saluja, Cosmetic Surgeon who conducted clinical trials for the brand. "The halfpipe design in combination with the higher energy field –which delivers a higher energy per cm –allows us to directly target these smaller areas while preventing the energy from stimulating antagonist muscles for improved outcomes and patient comfort." "We conducted extensive trials with the Small Contour Applicator and utilized ultrasound and MRI technology to demonstrate its effectiveness for treating these new areas of the body," shared Dr. Bruce Katz, Director of the JUVA Skin & Laser Center in NY and Clinical Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt Sinai Hospital, who conducted clinical trials for the brand. "We found the bicep and tricep muscles showed an increase in muscle mass two weeks following the fourth treatment, as well as an overall fat reduction in the arms. The treatment also increased volumetric muscle mass in the calves. These findings are particularly noteworthy as up until now there hasn't been an effective non-invasive solution to address these areas of the body," added Dr. Katz. Four 20-minute treatments, over the course of two weeks, represent the shortest procedure currently available for the non-invasive muscle strengthening. The new Small Contour Applicator and the EMSCULPT Large Applicator possess the highest intensity delivering the highest amount energy in the treatment area.
